Over the years I have seen cartoon posters depicting various communities.  I have never seen one for our Valley but always thought they were a cool and engaging way to depict a community and wished we had one.  Well, it appears our time has come.

Last week a gentleman named Brian White came in to my office to talk about producing a Wenatchee poster.  He works with Cartoon Communities (www.WeToon.com) which is based in La Grande, Oregon.  They have done a number of these posters in our state including Lake Chelan and the Tri-Cities.   They start in a community by visiting the Chamber.  I appreciate this.  Over the years we have had less forthright companies come into town (at least by phone) selling map ads or other products and exaggerating or outright lying about their connection with the Chamber in an attempt to benefit from our credibility.  I wanted to use this post to lay out our connection with Cartoon Communities to help local businesses and organizations make a decision whether to be part of this publication or not, if Brian contacts you.

This project is not sponsored or endorsed by the Wenatchee Valley Chamber.  Cartoon Communities is a for profit business that is selling ads on this publication in our Valley.  We have provided information about our Valley and have agreed to be a distribution point for their posters and, in return, been offered a free listing on the poster.  We have a similar arrangement with the three phone book publishers in our Valley.  The ads are open to any business or organization, member or not.  We have nothing to do with which advertisers chose to be part of the map or the messages in their ads.  Make up your own mind about the value of the ad to your business or organization.  If Cartoon Communities misrepresents our relationship, please let me know immediately.

One other note.  Cartoon Communities came here to do a Wenatchee poster.  I encouraged them to do a Wenatchee Valley poster or both a Wenatchee and East Wenatchee poster.  The scope of the poster or posters will depend on ad sales and Cartoon Communities, not the preference of the Chamber.
